        Mary Louise McAllister Baskin, 85, of 198 S. McIntosh St., died
     Saturday, Aug. 26, 2000.
        A native of Abbeville, S.C., Mrs. Baskin was a daughter of the
     late Clarence and Mary Adams McAllister. She was a retired
     saleslady for J.C. Pool Clothing Store and was a member of Elberton
     AARP. She attended Elberton First Presbyterian Church.
        Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Hicks Funeral Home with
     the Rev. Doug Hilliard officiating. Burial will be in Lowndesville
     Presbyterian Church cemetery, Lowndesville, S.C.
        Survivors include her husband, Albert Pressley Baskin Sr.; three
     sons, Albert P. Baskin Jr., Williamston, S.C., William Michael
     Baskin, Elberton, and Richard C. Baskin, Anderson, S.C.; and a
     grandchild.

        Mozelle Sanders Sanders, 84, of 1463 Beacon Light Road, died
     Saturday, Aug. 26, 2000.
        A native of Hart County, Mrs. Sanders was a daughter of the late
     Henry Judson and Fannie Adeline Barrow Sanders, was the widow of
     Cleo Sanders and was preceded in death by a son, Cleo Broughton
     Sanders. She was retired from Monroe Auto Equipment Company
     Assembly Line and was a member of Flat Shoals Baptist Church.
        Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Strickland Funeral Home
     with Dr. Wendell Bannister and the Rev. Larry Cox officiating.
     Burial will be in Nancy Hart Memorial Park.
        Survivors include six sons, Collier Sanders, Griffin, Hollis
     Sanders, Lilburn, Dennis Sanders, Lavonia, Gary Sanders, Hartwell,
     Stanley Sanders, Belton, S.C., and Terry Sanders, Spartanburg,
     S.C.; a brother, Rene Sanders, Lavonia; 14 grandchildren; 23
     great-grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; and four
     step-great-grandchildren.
        The family is at the home of Dennis Sanders, 680 Rock Springs
     Road, Lavonia, and will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. today at the
     funeral home.

     John T. Gunter and Frank D. Little. She was a homemaker and a
     member of Buford First Baptist Church.

     in Union Baptist Church cemetery, Hall County.

        Fellie Marie Allen, 84, of 263 E. May St., died Friday, Aug. 25,
     2000.
        A native of Barrow County, Mrs. Allen was a daughter of the late
     Charlie and Lennie Mobley McDonald, was the widow of R.L. ''Doc''
     Allen, and was preceded in death by a daughter, Joyce Hammond, and
     a son, Royce ''Bud'' W. Allen. She was a textile inspector and a
     member of Union Baptist Church.
        Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Wise-Connolly Funeral Home
     with the Rev. Ronald Hewatt officiating. Burial will be in Union
     Baptist Church cemetery.
        Survivors include a daughter, Bobbie Hammond, Winder; a son,
     Russell Allen, Winder; a sister, Nettie Mae Nash, Winder; three
     brothers, Thomas McDonald, Winder, Charles McDonald, Statham, and
     Lincoln McDonald, Braselton; 10 grandchildren; and 13
     great-grandchildren.

     Johnson. She was a member of Hull Baptist Church.

     cemetery.
        Survivors include a daughter, Patti Johnson, Hull; two sons,
     Tommy M. Johnson and Danny P. Johnson, both of Hull; a sister,

     great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

        Herschel Wellington Smith II, 70, died Tuesday, Aug. 22, 2000.
        A native of Milledgeville, Mr. Smith was a son of the late
     Herschel and Sarah Smith. He was a 1946 graduate of Monroe High
     School, Albany, a 1952 graduate of Albany State University, and
     attended graduate classes at Boston University. He taught
     elementary, middle and high school in Tallapoosa, Watley and
     Albany, and served in the U.S. Armed Forces from 1952-1954.
        He married Ms. Elizabeth B. Scott of Athens and had four
     children.
        Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Carl Williams Memorial
     Funeral Home, Atlanta. Burial will be in East Lawn Memorial
     Cemetery, Athens.

        J.W. Beck, 68, died Saturday, Aug. 26, 2000.
        A native of Jackson County, Mr. Beck was a son of the late
     Lattie and Clara Watts Beck. He was a longtime resident of
     Habersham County and worked as an insulator in Atlanta and
     surrounding areas. He was an army veteran of the Korean War and a
     lifetime member of Veterans of Foreign Wars post 7720. He was of
     the Baptist faith.
        Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at McGahee-Griffin & Stewart
     Funeral Home with the Rev. Roy Lee Mitchell officiating. Burial
     will be in the V.F.W. Memorial Cemetery with full military honors.
        Survivors include his wife, Claudia McConnell Beck; a son, Dion
     Beck, Cornelia; two sisters, Lucille Lee, Cornelia, and Edith
     Pitts, Annapolis, Md.; and a grandchild.

        John Coleman Clenney Jr., 68, of 843 Sherwood Drive, died
     Saturday, Aug. 26, 2000.
        Mr. Clenney was a son of John C. Clenney Sr., Athens, and the
     late Sara Brown Clenney. He was a graduate of Auburn University and
     was the managing supervisor for Elberton Mills, Union and Buffalo
     Mills, both in Union, S.C., and Cheraw Yarn Mills, South Carolina.
     He retired from United Merchants Manufacturing, was an Army veteran
     and a member of Elberton First Baptist Church.
        Services will be at 3 p.m. Monday at Oak Grove Cemetery,
     Arlington, with the Rev. James Mallard officiating.
        Survivors in addition to his father include his wife, Sherry
     Anne Howell Clenney; two daughters, Mary Jane Ginn, Newnan, and
     Karen C. McFarland, Birmingham, Ala.; two sons, John C. Clenney
     III, Tyrone, and Scott H. Clenney, Roswell; and five grandchildren.

        Bennie Gerald Johnson, 46, died Tuesday, Aug. 22, 2000.
        Mr. Johnson was a son of the late Clarence Newton and Mary Lois
     Mills Johnson. He was a truck driver.

     the Rev. Terry Hawkins officiating. Burial was in Bethabra Baptist

                               Ed (Bill) Kay
                               Cartersville 
                                      
        Ed (Bill) Kay, age 78 of Cartersville, passed away on August 23,
     2000.
        A native of Athens, Ga., Bill was a proud World War II veteran,
     having served with the 15th Air Force as a B17 and B24 pilot. He
     was the founder of Atlanta Drywall. After his retirement, he
     actively pursued his hobbies of gardening, woodworking, stained
     glass and blacksmithing. Bill was a loving husband, devoted father,
     proud grandfather and great-grandfather, and a true friend to all
     whose lives he touched.
        He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Gladys; brother, Russell
     and Melba Kay of Athens; son, Rick and Janes Kay; daughter, Juli
     Kay; grandchildren, Michael and Michele Kay, Melanie and Doug
     Lowry, Cindy Elkins and Brad Elkins; great-grandchildren, Sarah
     Lowry and Brandon Kay; and numerous other loving family members and
     friends.
        It was Bill's request that there be no solemn and sad memorial
     service for him. Rather, he asked that his friends and family
     gather together for a cheerful remembrance of him on Saturday,
     September 2, 2000 from 3 until 7 p.m. at his home in Cartersville.
        In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Leukemia
     Society of America or the United Methodist Children's Home.
        Medford-Peden Funeral Home, Marietta, has charge of
     arrangements.
