               Hugh D. Bailey, 78, died Thursday, Feb. 18, 1999.
       A native of Hart County, Mr. Bailey was a son of the late Claborn
   and Minnie Adams Bailey and widower of Edwina Chapman Bailey. He was a
   retired truck driver for the Maret Grain Co., and was a member of the
      Hartwell First United Methodist Church, the Wallace White Sunday
                 school class and the Methodist Men's Club.
       Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Hartwell First United
   Methodist Church with the Rev. Jan Devereaux officiating. Burial will
   be in Nancy Hart Memorial Park. The body will be placed in the church
                               at 10:30 a.m.
      Survivors include a brother, Joe A. Bailey, Hartwell; and a sister,
                      Jessie Alice McCurley, Hartwell.
      Pallbearers will be Alan Johnson, William Hubbard, Terrell Chapman,
     Ken Beilstein, Joe Seawright and Samuel D. Howard. Members of the
      Wallace White Sunday school class will be honorary pallbearers.

       Reba Bell Garrison Barnes, 88, of 145 Hicks Road, died Thursday,
                               Feb. 18, 1999.
       A native of Banks County, Mrs. Barnes was a daughter of the late
     Thomas and Retha Jane Murray Garrison and widow of Rupert Leonard
     Barnes. She was a homemaker and a member of Mount Pleasant United
   Methodist Church, Homer. She was preceded in death by two sons, Joseph
                         Barnes and George Barnes.
         Services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Mount Pleasant United
      Methodist Church, Homer, with the Revs. Ryan Seawright and Tommy
   Childress officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The body
                 will be placed in the church at 2:30 p.m.
      Survivors include a daughter, Bonnie Lou Ivey, Dallas; three sons,
   Eugene Barnes, Carnesville, Swayne Barnes, Anderson, S.C., and Daniel
         Barnes, Eastanollee; a brother, Olin Garrison, Toccoa; 13
                 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren.

                              Frank R. Benanti
                            Fort Collins, Colo.
               Frank R. Benanti, 57, died Monday, Feb. 15, 1999.
         A native of Chicago, Mr. Benanti was a son of the late Frank
       Benanti and Lillian Rose Gloss Benanti, Peotone, Ill. He was a
   mechanic and carpenter, and was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.
   He worked as a troubleshooter for Chicago Transit Authority and later
           as a parts expediter for Rust Tractor, El Paso, Texas.
          A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at John XXIII
       University Center, Fort Collins, with the Rev. Robert Amundsen
                                officiating.
        Survivors, in addition to his mother, include his wife, Mary A.
    Benanti; two sons, Frank Benanti II, Thornton, Colo., and Joseph A.
   Benanti, El Paso, Texas; a daughter, Deborah L. Benanti, Athens; four
     sisters, Patricia Hack, Naples, Fla., Barbara Hunt, Addison, Ill.,
       Joan Kusse, Newago, Mich., and Janet Findley, Peotone, Ill.; a

        Lodella Haynes Buchanan, 84, of 115 Norris St., died Wednesday,
                               Feb. 17, 1999.
      A native of Oglethorpe County, Mrs. Buchanan was a daughter of the
    late Herman Haynes and Maggie Jones Haynes and was the widow of Fred
       G. Buchanan. She was preceded in death by a son, Tolvin "Buck"
     Buchanan. She was retired from Textiles and Chick-fil-A. She was a
   member of Taylor Memorial Holiness Church, where she was the director
   of Golden Agers and a member of the Women's Ministry and the Fidelity
      Sunday school class. She was a former Sunday school teacher for
                                4-year-olds.
        Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Taylor Memorial Pentecostal
    Holiness Church with the Revs. H. Ray Buchanan, Brent Lollis and Ira
     Crocker officiating. The body will be placed in the church at 1:30
      p.m. Burial will be in New Silverbrook Cemetery, Anderson, S.C.
       Survivors include three sons, Charlie D. Buchanan, Belton, S.C.,
       the Rev. H. Ray Buchanan, Greenville, S.C., and Frank McCall,
      Lawrenceville; a sister, Evelyn Taylor, Greenville, S.C.; eight
                 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

       William E. "Billy" Cawthon, 71, of 1124 Cawthon-Davis Road, died
                          Thursday, Feb. 18, 1999.
        A native of Franklin County, Mr. Cawthon was a son of the late
      Raleigh B. and Lorine Scroggins Cawthon and widower of Margaret
      Cothran Cawthon. He was a retired meter technician with the Hart
      County Electric Membership Corp., and was retired from the Canon
    office of the U.S. Postal Service. He was a member of Canon Baptist
     Church, the Savannah Valley Shrine Club, Hartwell, and Bowersville
                             Masonic Lodge 595.
       Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Pruitte Funeral Home with
   the Revs. Paul Creason and Eldon Massey officiating. Burial will be in
                             Oakview Cemetery.
          Survivors include a son, William E. Cawthon Jr., Athens; a
    daughter, Mary C. Atwood, Lithonia; two brothers, James Cawthon and
   Thomas Cawthon, both of Canon; a sister, Peggy Duncan, Canon; and four

          Virginia Jackson Davis, 82, died Wednesday, Feb. 17, 1999.
        A native of Taliaferro County, Mrs. Davis was a daughter of the
      late John Stephen and Susan Harrison Jackson and widow of Kennon
      Davis. She retired after 13 years as a receptionist at the First
      National Bank, Cornelia, and was a member of the Cornelia First
     Baptist Church, the 3L Sunday school class and was a Sunday school
          teacher. She was a volunteer for the American Red Cross.
         Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Cornelia First Baptist
                Church with Dr. T. Logan Smith officiating.
         Survivors include four daughters, Gail Howell Wade, Buckhead
    Community, Susan Davis Johnston, Darien, Jean Davis Davis, Cornelia,
        and Betsy Davis Cheek, Athens; eight grandchildren; and two
                            great-grandchildren.

      A native of Kankakee, Ill., Mrs. Dow was a member of Christ Church
                 Christian and Missionary Alliance Church.
      Services will be at 6 p.m. Saturday at Christ Church Christian and
       Missionary Alliance Church with the Rev. Jim Harp officiating.
         She is survived by her husband, Todd E. Dow; and a daughter,
                          Cassandra Pell, Athens.

      Mark Allen Fulghum, 35, of Bowman Village, died Wednesday, Feb. 17,

                               Leroy H. Green

       Leroy H. Green, 79, of 150 Valleywood Drive, died Thursday, Feb.
                                 18, 1999.
       A native of Dayton, Texas, Mr. Green was a son of the late Reece
   and Arlethia Kent Green. He was a retired poultry manager for Seaboard
   Farms, formerly Bishop Hatchery Inc. He was a U.S. Army veteran and a
   member of Young Harris United Methodist Church, where he served on the
       official board and was a charter member and past president of
                       Crusaders Sunday school class.
      Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Evergreen Memorial
     Park, with a service at 2:30 p.m. at Young Harris United Methodist
             Church with the Rev. Mike Massingill officiating.
       Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Smith Green; two daughters,
       Linda Johansons, Fayetteville, and Brenda Pallas, Athens; five
                  grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
      The family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall after
                           the memorial service.

          Margaret Lucy Greenwood, 87, died Wednesday, Feb. 17, 1999.
       She was a daughter of the late Emerson and Hattie Williamson and
      widow of Jesse E. Greenwood. She was a homemaker and a member of
   Sharon Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by two sons, Thurmond
                     E. Greenwood and Grady Greenwood.
        Services will be at 3 p.m. today at Smith Funeral Home, Winder,
    with the Revs. Michael Davis and Robert Ballard officiating. Burial
               will be in the Sharon Baptist Church Cemetery.
        Survivors include two sons, Lamar Greenwood, Winder, and Grover
   Greenwood, Buford; two daughters, Betty Davis, Lawrenceville, and Mary
     Nash, Hoschton; 16 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and four
                        great, great-grandchildren.

          The Rev. Lucian McDonald Hamby, 67, of 370 Hull Road, died
                          Thursday, Feb. 18, 1999.
      A native of Oconee County, Mr. Hamby was a son of the late M.H. and
   Monta Malcom Hamby. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, and a
   member of the Church of God, Gainesville, where he served as minister
                           for a number of years.
       Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Prospect United
     Methodist Church cemetery, Fair Play, with the Rev. Dwayne French
                                officiating.
        Survivors include five daughters, Caroll Sanders, Athens, Donna
   Haley, Hull, Brenda Arce, Folkston, Dorothy Martinez, Tignall, and Jo
    Anne Campos, Grovetown; four sons, Ricky Hamby, Colbert, Don Hamby,
   Ila, Bobby Hamby, Athens, and James Hamby, Hull; a sister, Mattie Lou
    Strickland, Statham; 30 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and

        Richard Lamar "Leco" Harmon, of 121 Ashmore Court, died Monday,
                               Feb. 15, 1999.
        A native of Clarke County, he was a son of Richard B. "Dickey"
   Harmon Jr. and the late Mattie Thomas. He was raised by an aunt, Annie
                           Mildred Shaw, Athens.
         Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at New Dorsey Tabernacle
    Baptist Church with the Rev. H.L. Dotson officiating. Burial will be
   in East Lawn Cemetery. The body will be placed in the church at 1 p.m.

      Burrell James Jones Jr., of 1731 Coldwater Road, died Monday, Feb.
                                 15, 1999.
      A native of Elbert County, Mr. Jones was a son of the late Burrell
    James Jones Sr. and Willie Mae Craft Jones. He was retired from AT&T
    after 25 years of service and was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean
      War. He was a member of Flat Rock Christian Methodist Episcopal
                            Church, Hart County.
       Services will be at noon Saturday at Flat Rock C.M.E. Church with
    the Rev. Eddie Thornton officiating. The body will be placed in the
          church at 11 a.m. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
         Survivors include his wife, Marilyn Jones; a daughter, Tamika
    Jones, Elberton; a son, Gregory Jones, Elberton; three stepchildren;
                 and a sister, Lula Cade, High Point, N.C.

      Doyle E. Kidd Sr., 79, of 2989 Deep Creek Road, died Thursday, Feb.

        A native of Elbert County, Mr. Kidd was a son of the late Obie
      Byron and Ruby Pauline Bone Kidd. He was married twice, first to
    Lillie Faye Hendrix Kidd, who preceded him in death, and then to Ida
   Ruth Dickerson Kidd, Bowman. He was a retired salesman for the Cudahy
    Meat Packing Co., Atlanta. He was a Mason and a U.S. Navy veteran of
   World War II, serving in the Pacific Theater and receiving two Silver
                                Star awards.
      Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Strickland Funeral Home with
     the Rev. Michael Ashcraft officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest
                                 Cemetery.
      Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two sons, Doyle Edward
    Kidd Jr. and Byron C. Kidd, both of Bowman; two daughters, Brenda K.
      Austin, Hampton, and Susan Alexander, McDonough; a brother, Hal
    Douglas Kidd, Chester, S.C.; a sister, Wilma Thornton, Riverdale; 10
                 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

       David Reynolds McGill, 29, of 160 Westwood Drive, died Wednesday,
                               Feb. 17, 1999.
      A native of Clarke County, Mr. McGill was a son of Judy McGill and
      Paul T. McGill, both of Athens. He was a 1988 graduate of Clarke
    Central High School, where he was football manager in 1985. He was a
    poster child for the March of Dimes for seven years, a counselor for
    Extra-Special People, an honorary member of the Athens Jaycees and a
   spokesman for the Georgia-Georgia Tech Junior Varsity Thanksgiving Day
    Game. He attended Athens Area Technical Institute and Roosevelt Warm
   Springs Institute, and was a member of Forest Heights Baptist Church.
       Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Lord & Stephens Funeral Home,
      West, with Paul Brown, Billy Henderson and the Rev. Peggy Little
          officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Park.
        Survivors, in addition to his parents, include a brother, Kevin
     McGill, Athens; a sister, Paula Pleger, Athens; his grandmothers,
    Mildred R. Johnson, Athens, and Winnie McGill, Banks County; an aunt
   and uncle, Ernie and Kelley Johnson, Birmingham, Ala.; and nieces and

       A native of Greene County, Mr. Merritt was a son of Willie Lewis
                   Merritt and Melba Merritt, Greensboro.

       A native of Taliaferro County, Mr. Rhodes was a machine operator
           and was a member of Greater Level Hill Baptist Church.

          Frances Simpson Walker, 77, of 1810 Barrs, Pensacola, Fla.,
              formerly of Toccoa, died Monday, Feb. 15, 1999.
      A native of Toccoa, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Mertis
    Marchman Simpson. She was a graduate of Toccoa High School, attended
    Georgia State College for Women and received a master's degree from
                     Rollins College, Winter Park, Fla.
      Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Toccoa City Cemetery
                    with Dr. Richard Hawks officiating.

               Henry C. Wilhite, 69, died Sunday, Feb. 14, 1999.
        A native of Franklin County, Mr. Wilhite was a son of the late
                        William and Alvenia Wilhite.
      Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Hurley Funeral Home with the
     Rev. Milo Weems officiating. Burial will be in East Lawn Cemetery.
         Survivors include his wife, Betty J. Wilhite; two daughters,
     Antionette Potts, Temple, and Donnie W. Lopez, Rockmart; two sons,
        Fran Wilhite, Rockmart, and Donald Wilhite, Carrollton; his
         stepmother, Bessie W. Holland, Ila; and six grandchildren.

         Kathleen Nicole "Katie" Woodruff, 14, of 111 Woody Lane, died
                          Tuesday, Feb. 16, 1999.
       A native of Athens, she was a daughter of George Michael Woodruff
     and Sherry Burgess Woodruff, both of Athens. She was a student at
                         Cedar Shoals High School.
      Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Church of the Nations with
     the Rev. Mel Holmes, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Oconee
                               Hill Cemetery.
        Survivors, in addition to her parents, include three brothers,
      Matthew Woodruff and Jesse Woodruff, both of Athens, and George
   Michael Woodruff Jr., West Blocton, Ala.; and her grandmother, Shirley
                             Burgess, Phoenix.
       Pallbearers will be George Wilkes, Mark Bailey, Phillip Woodruff
                              and Al Clemens.

   Woodruff Fund, c/o the Mental Health Association of Northeast Georgia,
