      Henry Ford "Son" Andrews, 79, died Tuesday, Aug. 19, 1997.
      A native of Oglethorpe County, Mr. Andrews was a son of the late
   Jonathan Bell and Mattie Bell Grimes Andrews. He was a retired farmer
   and was of the Holiness faith.
      Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Falling Creek
   Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Steve Forsythe officiating.
      Survivors include a brother, Edgar Andrews, Elberton; three
   sisters, Marietta Smith, Laura Grimes and Clara Driver, all of
   Elberton; and nieces and nephews.
      The family will receive friends 7-9 p.m. today at Hicks Funeral
   Home.
      The family is at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Dwight Driver, 1408
   Lexington Highway, Elberton.
   Jacquelyn J. Brown
   Greensboro
      Jacquelyn Jackson Brown, 73, of 12 Eastview Circle died Tuesday,
   Aug. 19, 1997.
      A native of Greene County, Mrs. Brown was a daughter of the late
   Drewry Pyron Jackson and Ollie Mae House. She was preceded in death by
   a son, Joe Brown. She worked as a secretary and medical transcriber at
   St. Mary's Hospital in Athens for 20 years and was a member of the
   First Baptist Church.
      Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in Greshamville Cemetery
   with the Rev. Mike Pritchett officiating.
      Survivors include three daughters, Linda B. Boswell, Ginny Parker
   and Jackie Dunagan, all of Greensboro; 11 grandchildren; and 14
   great-grandchildren.
      McCommons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
   Donald Cohran
   Danielsville
      Donald Gerald Cohran, 41, of Route 3 died Monday, Aug. 18, 1997.
      A native of Fulton County, Mr. Cohran a son of Homer " H.D." Cohran
   and Adeline Sartain Cohran, both of Mableton, and the widower of
   Glenda Cohran. He was a carpenter.
      Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Pruitte Funeral
   Home, Royston, with the Rev. Buddy Coile officiating. Burial will be
   in Jones Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery.
      Survivors include his girlfriend, Teresa Nash, Danielsville; a son,
   Derek Duncan Cohran, Peachtree City; a brother, Henry "Chip" Cohran,
   Dallas; and a sister, Debra Benton, Mableton.
      Pallbearers will be Gary Benton, Kenneth Phillips, Lee Sartain,
   Darryl Sartain, Larry Benton and Ronnie Scarborough.
      The family is at the home of Ama Jo Phillips, Route 1, Mason Mill
   Estates, Danielsville, and will receive friends 7-9 p.m. today at the

   Anderson, S.C.
      Harry Lamarr Davis, 65, of 1-A Friendship Court died Saturday, Aug.
   16, 1997.
      A native of Waynetown, Ind., Mr. Davis was a son of the late
   Charles Jacob and Essie Roome Davis. He was a security guard for
   Cherokee Security Systems and a member of Kings Chapel African
   Methodist Episcopal Church in Pendleton, S.C.
      Survivors include three sons, David Davis, Athens, Stephen Davis,
   Columbus, Neb., and Mark Davis, Snellville; a daughter, Jody Williams,
   Hartwell; two brothers, Gene Davis and Lloyd Davis, both of
   Indianapolis; and nine grandchildren.
      In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Diabetes
   Association, Georgia Affiliate Inc., 3783 Presidential Parkway, Suite
   102, Atlanta, Ga. 30340.

   Geneva I. Dixon
   Winter Haven, Fla.
      Geneva Ines Dixon, 79, died Monday, Aug. 18, 1997.
      A native of Waynesboro, Tenn., Mrs. Dixon was a widow of Roy Odell
   Dison and was preceded in death by a son, Buford Eugene Dixon. She was
   a retired sectionizer for the Bordo company. She was a member of Inman
   Park Church of Christ.
      Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Ott-Laughlin
   Funeral Home.
      Survivors include two sons, Randall Ward Dixon, Auburndale, Fla.,
   and Clifford Wayne Dixon of Greensboro; two daughters, Mary Elizabeth
   Pate, Eagle Lake, Fla., and Carolyn Oneta Hubbard, Kissimmee, Fla.; 10
   grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

   Chandler B. Estes
   Columbia, S.C.
      Col. Chandler Bayard Estes, 77, died Monday, Aug. 18, 1997.
      A native of Athens, Col. Estes was a son of the late Bayard Taylor
   and Osa Pauline Chandler Estes. He retired from the U.S. Air Force
   after 30 years of service and was a World War II veteran. He attained
   many medals including the Distinguished Flying Cross, Air Medal and
   Legion of Merit. He was the Air Attache to India 1953-1956 and Base
   Commander at Webb Air Force Base 1968-1970. He was a volunteer at
   Moncrief Army Hospital, God's Storehouse and Sesqui Park. He was a
   graduate of the University of Georgia and a member of Windsor United
   Methodist Church.
      Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. today at Greenlawn Memorial
   Park.
      Survivors include his wife, Rebecca M. Estes; a son, Jeff Estes,
   Columbia; two daughters, Sharon Hopkins, Columbia, and Paula Rudser,
   Jasper, Fla.; nine grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
      Memorials may be made to the Center for Cancer Treatment and
   Research at Richland Memorial Hospital.

      Don L. Hill, 68, of 5909 Georgia Highway 82 Spur, died Monday, Aug.
   18, 1997.
      A native of Banks County, Mr. Hill was a son of Daisy Tolbert Hill
   and the late Howard Lamar Hill. He was a retired automobile teacher
   and service manager. He was a member of Maysville Baptist Church and
   Maysville Masonic Lodge.
      Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. today at Little-Ward Funeral
   Home with the Rev. Herman Purcell officiating. Burial will be in
   Sunrise Cemetery, Maysville.
      Survivors include his wife, Mary Frances Martin Hill, Commerce; two
   sons, Dennis Hill, Maysville, and Steve Hill, Hull; and five sisters,
   Doris Brice, Virginia Hopkins and Estelle Putman, all of Gainesville,

      Lois Francine Slaton Jones, 76, of 901 Merk Road died Monday, Aug.
   18, 1997.
      A native of Jackson County, Mrs. Jones was a daughter of the late
   Mancy Vera Barnett and James Jackson Slaton and the widow of Charles
   Edward Jones. She was a retired from Wayne Poultry.
      Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Ridgeway Baptist
   Church with the Revs. Michael Pike and Bill Manus officiating. Burial
   will follow at the church cemetery. The body will be placed in the
   church at 9:30 a.m.
      Survivors include two sons, Billy R. Jones, Hull, and Donald Jones,
   Maysville; a daughter, Trudie Marlow, Maysville; a sister, Ruby
   Grinder, Fort Wayne, Ind.; 20 grandchildren; and a number of
   great-grandchildren.

      Ralph David Massey Sr., 75, died Tuesday, Aug. 19, 1997.
      A native of Jackson County, Mr. Massey was a son of the late John
   and Eula Massey. He was a retired meat manager for Massey Grocery
   Store and a World War II Navy veteran.
      Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Jackson Funeral
   Home, Jefferson with the Rev. Hulon Hill officiating. Burial will be
   in Bethany United Methodist Church Cemetery.
      Survivors include his wife, Doris Massey, Greenville; two
   daughters, Karen M. Crews, Auburn, Ala., and Elaine M. Moon, Winder;
   four sons, Ralph David Massey Jr., John Douglas Massey and Hugh Keith
   Massey, all of Greenville, and Joseph Kenneth Massey, Newnan; a
   sister, Johnnie M. Kesler, Jefferson; nine grandchildren; and six
   great-grandchildren.

   Eugene F. Pope Sr.
   Athens
      Eugene F. Pope Sr. of 172 Herring St. died Sunday, Aug. 17, 1997.
      A native of Oglethorpe County, Mr. Pope worked for Classic City
   Beverage for more than 20 years. He was a son of the late Minnie Ray
   and Eugene Smith. He was later adopted by the Rev. John and Janie Pope
   of Oglethorpe County. He was an adopted parent of Fourth Street
   Elementary School from University Nursing and Rehabilitation Center
   and a member of St. Mark African Methodist Episcopal Church.
      Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at St. Mark A.M.E.
   Church with the Rev. A.R. Killian officiating. Burial will be at East
   Lawn Cemetery. The body will be placed in the church at noon.
      Survivors include five daughters, Janie Woods, Linda Pope and
   Angela Pope, all of Athens, Mildred Muqtasid, Atlanta, and Rebecca
   Pope Scott, Virginia Beach, Va.; five sons, Michael Pope, Dexter Pope
   and Clarence Pope, all of Athens, Gene Pope Jr., Atlanta, Eugene
   Mantaque, Philadephia; a cousin reared as a sister, Myrestine Malloy,
   Athens; 13 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

   Funeral Home.
   Owen Raines
   Elberton
      Owen Raines, 63, of 1920 Tanglewood Drive died Sunday, Aug. 17,
   1997.
      A native of Anderson County, S.C., Mr. Raines was a son of the late
   Cornelia Robertson and Clemence Owen Raines Sr. He was a retired
   southeast regional manager for the Georgia Department of Labor, a
   United States Coast Guard veteran, a graduate of the University of
   Georgia School of Business Administration and a member of St. Alban's
   Episcopal Church.
      Memorial services will be at 7 p.m. today at St. Alban's Episcopal
   Church with Rev. Herschel Atkinson officiating.
      Survivors include his wife, Norma J. Rhodes-Raines, Athens; three
   daughters, Amanda "Mandy" Clarke, Bogart, Jaye Raines, Atlanta, and
   Caroline Raines, Jesup; two brothers, Lorton Raines, Dewy Rose, and
   Charles Raines, Elberton; and three grandchildren.
      The family will be at the home of Lorton Raines, 2431 Nickville
   Road, Dewy Rose and will receive friends after the service.

      Clarine Thelma Shockley, 78, formerly of Banks County, died Monday,
   Aug. 18, 1997.
      A native of White County, Miss Shockley was a daughter of the late
   Jessie Osborne and Thomas Shockley Sr. She was a retired bookkeeper.
      Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. today at Damascus Baptist Church
   with the Rev. Gene Todd officiating. Burial will follow in the church
   cemetery.
      Survivors include a sister, Lois Christopher, Duluth; three
   brothers, Woodrow Shockley, Homer, J.D. Shockley, Baldwin, and Thomas
   Shockley Jr., Toccoa.
      Nephews and great-nephews will serve as pallbearers.
      The family will be at the home of Ralton and Joyce Brady,
   Whispering Pines Road, Toccoa.

      Clarence B. Watkins, 52, of 221 Old Fairground Road died Monday,
   Aug. 18, 1997.
      A native of Oglethorpe County, Mr. Watkins was a son of the late
   Emerson "Doc" and Norman Watkins. He was a member of Fork Bethel
   Baptist Church.
      Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Fork Bethel Baptist
   Church with the Revs. Rufus Whitlock, Michael Gresham and Alphonso
   McRae officiating. The body will be placed in the church at 10 a.m.
      Survivors include his wife, Matha W. Watkins; two sons, Clarence B.
   Watkins Jr., Crawford, and Michael Watkins, Athens; a brother, Louie
   Watkins, Athens; a sister, Mary Woods, Lexington; and two
   grandchildren.

      Geraldine Boggus Watts, 76, of 481 Scott St. died Tuesday, Aug. 19,
   1997.
      A native of Ben Hill County, Mrs. Watts was a daughter of the late
   Ira Lane Adamson and John Cullen Boggus and the widow of Oliver S.
   Watts Sr. A retired co-owner of Commerce Jewelry, she was of the
   Methodist faith and was a member of Four Seasons Garden Club of
   Commerce.
      Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at First United
   Methodist Church with the Revs. Robert L. Ramsey and Scott Hearn
   officiating. Burial will be in Grey Hill Cemetery. The body will be
   placed in the church at 10:30 a.m.
      Survivors include two sons, Alan Watts, Commerce, and Simmons
   Watts, Conyers; a brother, LaVoye Boggus, Live Oak, Fla.; two sisters,
   Kathrine Hogan, Quitman, and Thelma Hunter, Fitzgerald; five
   grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
