Robert R. Allen

Nov. 1, 1924 - Oct. 28, 2004

Robert Rapha Allen, 79, was born on November 1, 1924, in Seattle, WA, to Robert
James Allen and Estelle "Leota" Allen. Robert Allen died on Thursday, October
28, 2004, (almost achieving his 80th birthday), at his home, surrounded by his
loving family, after a long, private battle with cancer. He is survived by
children, Jennifer Carol Allen-Barker and her husband, Greg Allen Barker;
Robert Walter Allen, Michael Burnett Allen and his wife Maria Grace Prieto;
grandchildren, Heather, John, Claire, Jeremy, Jenna; special family members,
Alice Wilson and Todd Stilwell; and numerous cousins and an aunt. Mr. Allen
attended high school in Hawthorne, NV, where he started the first cheerleading
team for the school. After graduating in 1944, he immediately entered the Army
Air Corps, serving as Flight Maintenance Gunner. He then attended the
University of Nevada, Reno, where he met his future wife, Carol Ann Minkel (of
San Francisco). After graduating with a degree in business and finance,
marrying July 12, 1952, he and his new bride traveled to New York for
additional training for his life long career as a stockbroker and financial
consultant. They settled in Stockton to raise their family. Robert Allen
originally worked for Harris-Upham & Co., and next Smith-Barney, Harris-Upham &
Co., and eventually with A.G. Edwards, from which he retired at the age of 77
years. In addition to his energies spent for family and career, Mr. Allen
contributed actively and generously to numerous community organizations
throughout his life in Stockton, including Port of Stockton, Junior Chamber of
Commerce, Delta Blood Bank, Stockton Metropolitan Chapter of Kiwanis
International and Key Club. He was active in the latter two up until his death.
He was also a lifelong member of Theta Chi Fraternity. Mr. Allen has been loved
for his generous character, integrity, leadership, and love of his family, "his
(Key Club) Kids", friends and community. He was considered to be "a true gentle-
 man" by many, and will be truly missed. Family and friends are invited to
attend a Memorial Service at the DeYoung Shoreline Chapel, 7676 Shoreline Dr.,
Stockton, CA, on Saturday, November 13, 2004, at 3:00 p.m. There will be no
visitation. Family suggests memorial contri-butions be made to Hospice of San
Joaquin, 3888 Pacific Ave., Stockton, CA 95204.
