Robert R. Scott, a prominent young farmer of Washington County, Ark.,
is a native of Pulaski County, Ark., born December 17, 1861. His
parents, Robert A. and Eliza (Hix) Scott, were born in Tennessee, and
the father was first married to a Miss Patty Haines, by whom he has a
family of three children. His last marriage, to Miss Hix, was blessed
in the birth of four children: Elizabeth, Mrs. Horner; Robert R. and
two children who died in infancy. Mr. Scott came to Pulaski County,
Ark., when a young man, and was engaged in farming in that county
until 1879, when he brought his family to Washington County, and here
resided until his death, which occurred June 11, 1887. He was a devout
Christian and an earnest worker in the Methodist Episcopal Church,
South, and was also a strong supporter of the principles of the
Democratic party. His wife, who was born on the 10th of August, 1819,
is still living, and resides in Washington County. Robert R. Scott was
reared in Pulaski County, and in 1879 came with his parents to
Washington County. Here he was married on the 12th of November, 1882,
to Miss Edna E. Barnes, who was born in November, 1863, and a daughter
of Wiley Barnes. They have three interesting little children: Gertrude
M., Ida B. and Robert B. In starting out in life for himself, Mr.
Scott's sole possessions consisted of a span of horses, but by
judicious management and indomitable energy he is now the owner of an
excellent farm of 169 acres, nearly all of which is under cultivation.
Although a young man, he has already taken a prominent place among the
representative farmers of the county, and is a good calculator,
financier and business man. He is a worthy member of the Knights of
the Horse, and has always supported the Democratic party.
