(photo contributed by Donna Mohney) DIRECTIONS TO CEMETERY: From the intersection of Rt. 30 and SR711 in Ligonier, drive 3.0 miles on Rt 30 west. Make left turn onto Darlington Road. Proceed 0.3 miles then make left turn onto LF64060. Cemetery is 0.7 miles. Taken from the Westmoreland County Historical Society Cemetery Guide: George Keltz (Kelso), a soldier of the American Revolution, owned the land where the cemetery is located. It is said that a family traveling over the Forbes Road stopped at a local inn where two of their children died. George Keltz gave them permission to bury the children on a hill behind the inn on his property. This would have been prior to 1784. |
