Rededication Ceremony Program

You are cordially invited, July 11, 1992, at 2 PM, to the Daughters of the American Revolutionary War and the Sons of the American Revolutionary War dedication of a tombstone in honor of the first Mausholder (Mossholder, Mosholder) to have come to America.

John came to Philadelphia from Germany when he was age 17 in 1774. On arrival, he had to pledge allegiance to the King of England. John stayed in south eastern Pennsylvania and married Johanna Stump from Cumberland County. John and Johanna had 12 children. They moved west, to then Bedford County, later Somerset County. Some of their children were born after they came to Brothersvalley Township, Somerset County, about 1785. They belonged to the Lutheran Church in Pine Hill.

Directions: Somerset, south on Route 219 to Berlin: which is approximately nine miles.

Monument: in Berlin, continue south on route 219 from the yellow blinker light in Berlin, 2.7 miles; then right on to Oldmill Road. Please note, the right turn is just prior to the railroad tracks, which is just after sharp "S curve" turns in the road. Continue on Oldmill Road another l/3 of a mile to Croner's Farm road.

Pine Hill Church: continue south on route 219 from the yellow blinker light in Berlin, 1.7 miles to the first left hand road to the left. Follow this road approximately 2-1/2 more miles to the top of the ridge. The church will be on your left and the field to your right is a coal stripping site.
