Wakefield - East Wheatfield Township
1 , 2

Wakefield Cemetery is located next to the Conemaugh River at the town of Seward, although on the opposite side of the river, toward Armagh.  Just before Route 56 crosses the river, a small dirt road to the left (as coming from Armagh) can be found.  The road is guarded by a gate and leads to multiple baseball fields.  In order to access the cemetery by car, a person has to visit on a day that the baseball fields are being used and the gate is open.  Driving straight to the end of the parking area, a person can walk to the right of the fields and cross a bridge to the cemetery.  Old photos of the cemetery show an old crossing bridge, which has since been taken down for safety reasons, and a new bridge built that can allow a larger mower to have access.  The cemetery has been damaged in the past by flooding, and some of the tombstones have been destroyed and probably moved.  The cemetery has also been called the Ninevah or Rodgers Cemetery.
