Kerst, Samuel B., 1797-1879.  Samuel B, Kerst was son of Jacob Kerst and Esther Yoder Bertolet. He was born 4/9/1797 and died 12/19/1879 in Birdsboro. His wife was Elisabeth Wicklein. Her dates are 2/10/1802-3/18/1856. She was a daughter of Jacob Seifrit Wicklein and Margaretha Linderman, Robeson Twp. In the volume, Biographical Annals of Berks County, by Morton Montgomery, 1909, pg. 1338, it is written: Samuel B. Kerst was born in Union Township, Berks County, and there spent all of his life in agricultural pursuits, dying in 1879, at the age of eighty- three years. His wife passed away in 1856, when fifty-four years old. His wife was Elizabeth (Wicklein). In religious belief the family are connected to the Lutheran church. In politics, Mr. Kerst was first a Whig and then a Republican.   Contributor: Diana Quinones
