SECTION 1000

This area was previously known as the FIRST ADDITION. It generally consists of five burial areas, as follows:

Main Lots:

This area was surveyed about 1906. It consists of 338 lots numbered 1001 to 1338, each 16' by 8', each having 5 gravesites. There are several lots along the south and east borders having more or less than 5 sites due to different size lots. Within each lot the individual sites are numbered left to right (south to north). All numbers up through 1324 are logically laid out. The rest go somewhat backwards toward the north, along the southern border of the cemetery.

Extension Lots:

This area was added to the original survey at an unknown point, adding a single row of lots on the western edge of Section 1000. The lots are numbered from right to left (north to south), but again the individual sites are numbered left to right within each lot.

Welfare Single Lots:

This is an area started about 1970, and is actually one long row of sites in the Main Lot section. It is no longer used. Currently, it extends from lower site 1 of lot 2052, extending south through lots 1105, 1106, 1159, and 1160, including use of the aisles between the lots.

Triangle Single Lots:

About 1918 this area was started to be sold as single sites instead of lots consisting of 5 sites, as all the other sales were at the time. It is triangular in shape, and actually covers area that would otherwise be both in Sections 1000 and 2000. Although there are very few gravestones, the area is completely filled. The rows have recently been numbered for cemetery purposes. On the left, and going north, are 1339 through 1342. To the right, going north, are lots 1343 through 1346. Each contains a variable number of individual sites depending on the space available. Some lots are "LS", meaning full length for large (adult) single burials, and some are "SS" for small (child) single burials. The last burial was in 1940.

Historic South Lots:

These lots are along the western edge of Section 1000, bordering the Extension Lots. It was established about 5 years ago in an area between Sections 1000 and 4000 that was never used. The lot numbers are 1347 through 1368. However, lot numbers 1347, 1363, and 1364 cannot be used due to lack of space, therefore, these numbers do not exist.
