Spavinaw, Mayes County, OK., 1880s or early 1900s
Photo submitted by: Jim Coats
My grandparents lived in Spavinaw in the late 1880s and early 1900s. My grandfather's name was William North West, he was a merchant in Spavinaw. He married Clementine Shadle in 1892 and they had 6 children, 5 girls and one boy. My mother was Tookah Belle West, born in 1895 in Ketchum, I.T. I am told the building in the foreground was my grandfather's merchantile store. He died in 1909 so I presume the picture predates that time frame.
