HOWARD DIES AT A RIPE OLD AGE Pelzer Woman Expires at Age of 88---Funeral to Be Held on Friday. Mrs. Carrie Jones Howard, 88, daughter of the late James and Elizabeth Jones,died at 2:20 o'clock this morning at her residence in Pelzer following an illiness of eleven weeks. Mrs. Howard was twice married, her first husband being Walter S. Norris. Both preceded her to the grave many years ago. Although she had resided in Anderson County for a considerable length of time, she was a native of Greenville County. For the past thirty years she had made her home in Pelzer. She was a woman of strong Christian character, possessing a sunny disposition, and she made friends readily. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Pelzer. Mrs. Howard is survived by three daughters, Miss Belle Norris, Mrs. J. J. Martin of Pelzer and Mrs. J. M. Lancaster of Fountain Inn, and two sons. J. A. Norris of Piedmont and A. P. Norris of Pelzer. She also leaves one sister, Mrs. Eliza Gross of Starr. The funeral will be held at 11 o'clock Friday morning at Cross Roads Church near Starr,with the Rev. George Pennell officiating. He will be assisted by the Rev. Mr. Wright, the Rev. Mr. Merchant and Rev. Mr. Willis. The following grandsons will serve as active pall bearers, Walter, Frank and Paul Norris.
