Priest River Times Priest River, Idaho submitted by: Muddypaw [muddypaw@onemain.com] Irene Lorraine Wherley, 63 Irene Lorraine Wherley, 63, a long time resident of HooDoo Valley passed away on Aug. 1, 2004 at her home after a courageous battle with cancer. A graveside funeral was held on Aug. 7 at the Seneacquoteen Cemetery. The Rev. Darryn Hewson of the United Methodist Church officiated. A gathering and celebration of her life was held at her home afterwards. Irene was born in Sandpoint on July 6, 1941 to George and Grace Mae Robinson. She attended Sandpoint High School. She married Les Dingus and the couple traveled with a carnival before they settled down in Loon Lake, Wash. In 1971 she moved back to HooDoo Valley where she spent the remainder of her life. Irene was well known for being a hard worker, dedicated to her family, strong and outgoing. When Irene was a young woman people said that she looked like Sophia Loren, the movie actress. She was a very beautiful woman and a talented singer. Irene loved flowers, working in her yard, tending to her horses and being with her family. Irene worked for Stimson Lumber from 1992-2002, when she had to quit due to health problems. Irene will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She is survived by her husband, Fred Nibarger, HooDoo Valley, daughter, Denise Mae (Mark) Eastman, HooDoo Valley, two grandchildren, Tawny Gonzalez, Atlanta, Ga. and Shea McCormick, Sandpoint; six step-daughters, Patricia (William) Graham, Tacoma, Wash., Jackie (Doug) Smith, Aberdeen , Wash., Leslie (Tim) Schaper, HooDoo Valley, Debbie Lusk, Summerland Keys, Fla., Robin Bursiek, Springfield, Va. Rickie Barlow, Clayton, N.C., two brothers, Wes (Judy) Hageman, Cuba, NM., Richard (Phyllis) Fullen, Walla Walla, Wash., three sisters, Marcia Bettinger, Spokane, Wash., Theseley Edge,Walla, Wash., Lottie (Lee) Hanson,Walla Wash., and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved daughter, Darlene Marie McCormick. Arrangements were under the direction of the Lakeview Funeral Home in Sandpoint.
