Coeur d'Alene Press - The Daily Bee Coeur d'Alene, Idaho <> Helen M. White, 81 The Lord called Helen to his heavenly home on Sept. 25, 2004. Born to Walter and Marguerite Nelson on March 29, 1923, at a homestead ranch near Kidd Island Bay on Lake Coeur d'Alene, she later moved to Coeur d'Alene, where she spent her childhood years. Helen met Howard Brandvold while attending high school in Coeur d'Alene, and they were married on July 17, 1942, and had one son, Ken. Helen later married Fred R. White on April 26, 1947, in Missoula, Mont. They moved to Hayden Lake, built a home and raised three boys, Fred, Randy and Steve. Helen was active in P.T.A. and other school functions. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Everyone just loved going to LGW's (Little Grandma White's) house, only the BEST cookies around! Helen enjoyed crocheting, playing cards and scrabble, and in her later years, enjoyed painting. In 1988 she lost her husband to cancer. She suffered several strokes and made a new home at Life Care Center. Here she made many new friends. Many a day you would find her in the lobby welcoming everyone with a warm smile or enjoying the sun on the patio. Helen is survived by sons, Ken and Donna Brandvold of Sioux City, Iowa, Fred and Peggy White of Dalton Gardens; brother Robert of Lewiston and sister Peggy and Bill Durr of Coeur d'Alene; grandchildren, Craig and Sally Brandvold of Sidney, Australia; Colleen and David Conine of Spokane; Kimberlee and Bill Nickelby, and Carolyn and Nathan Maszy of Portland, Ore., Angie Curry of Post Falls, Nathan White of Hauser Lake, Brieanna, Ryan, Steven, Stephanie, Frederick, Michelle, Josh White, Tyler Stuker, Cocolalla, Crystal White of Post Falls and Colette Flormann of Spokane; great-grandchildren, Kenny and Shannon Brandvold, Grace and Clare Conine, Alexander Nickelby, Jacob and James Curry and Anika White. Her husband, Fred, mother Marguerite and sons Randy and Steve preceded Helen in death. In lasting memory, every day we see the sun we will see her smile and feel her warmth. On cold days, we will think of her and feel warm and a smile will just appear. Your Loving Family. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 29 at English Funeral Chapel, Coeur d'Alene.
