Priest River Times Priest River, Bonner County, Idaho Robert "Bob" Twining, 72 Robert "Bob" Twining, 72, died Tuesday, Nov. 2, 2004, in Sandpoint, Idaho. Private family services have been held. Bob was born on Dec. 25, 1931, in Binghamton, N.Y., the son of Glenn and Rowena J. (Ainey) Twining. He grew up in New York and Pennsylvania and graduated from Erasmus Hall in Brooklyn, N.Y., in June of 1949. He joined the U.S. Navy in July 1949 and later transferred to the U.S. Air Force in 1950. He served during the Korean and Vietnam Wars and retired in 1973 as a master sergeant, serving 24 years. Bob met the love of his life and married Gillian "Gill" James on April 28, 1969, in Druant, Okla. They made their home in Arizona where Bob was an organic farmer. He worked for General Electric and Honeywell as a computer engineer for five years, moving to Priest River, Idaho, in 1982. He was a past member of the Priest River Fire Department, EMTs, Lions Club, VFW, and a life member of the Disabled American Veterans. His hobbies included gardening, fishing, and woodworking. He was proficient in them all. Survivors include his wife, Gillian D. Twining, of Priest River; five daughters, Lovella Williams of Texas, Joann Twining, Washington; Barbara Rogers, Arizona, Judy Whitfield, Wisconsin, and Geraldine Rinna, in Michigan; one son, Daniel, Idaho; one sister, Lola Robertson in Ohio; and a brother, Alan "Nick" Twining of Colorado. Also surviving him are numerous grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and special friend Phil Dunaway of Priest River. Memorials may be made to Priest River Animal Rescue. Arrangements were under the care of Coffelt Funeral Service, Inc., Sandpoint.
