Coeur d'Alene Press - The Daily Bee Coeur d'Alene, Kootenai County, Idaho <> Cecelia Thie, 99 J. Cecelia S. Thie, 99, Post Falls, died Nov. 11, 2004, at Pinewood Care Center in Coeur d'Alene. She was born March 19, 1905, to Brigid (Coyne) and Arthur Shaw in San Diego, where she was raised. Cecelia graduated from Academy of Our Lady of Peace and San Diego Normal College. On June 25, 1927, she married Dean A. Thie Sr. in San Diego. Cecelia taught elementary school in the San Ysidro area of San Diego, and St. John's Catholic School in Los Angeles. While in Los Angeles, Cecelia was a member of St. John the Evangelist Church and Mother's Club. She was an avid pianist and reader. Cecelia and her husband traveled extensively until Dean's passing in 1982. In 1999, she moved to Post Falls to be near her son, and became a member of St. George's Catholic Church in Post Falls. Cecelia is survived by her son, Dean A. Sr., and Elaine Thie of Post Falls; nieces Rita Patrick, Mission Viejo, Calif., Mary Mandy, Santa Ana, Calif., Kathleen Brown, Potrero, Calif.; nephews John Shaw, Michael Shaw, both of Caldwell, Leo Shaw, San Diego; granddaughter Julia A. Kelly, Rathdrum; grandsons Brian D. Thie, Moscow, Mark A. Thie, Woodland Hills, Calif., David Thie, Tacoma, Wash.; and four great-grandchildren. In addition to husband Dean, Cecelia was preceded in death by six brothers and sisters. Funeral Mass will be 11 a.m. Nov. 18 at St. George's Catholic Church, Post Falls. Graveside service in Culver City, Calif., will be 11 a.m. Nov. 22 at Holy Cross Cemetery, followed by a reception.
