Coeur d'Alene Press - The Daily Bee Coeur d'Alene, Kootenai County, Idaho <> DaMinca (Minnie) Sanderson, 92 Minnie Marie Sanderson, 92, Coeur d'Alene, passed away Nov. 6, 2004, at Ivy Court. Minnie was born Sept. 13, 1912, in Central City, Colo., to Anton and Rose Marie Lenz. Minnie grew up on the family farm in Cougar Gulch and later in life made her home in Coeur d'Alene. Minnie began her career as a cook at the Brunswick Cafe on Sherman Avenue during the 1950s. She then worked for 10 years as the cook for the Redemptorist Fathers at St. Thomas Parish, Coeur d'Alene. Minnie also worked as a cook at the Cove Bowl bowling alley in Coeur d'Alene and Templin's Resort in Coeur d'Alene. She came out of retirement and helped start the Avondale Restaurant when the golf course opened in Hayden Lake. Minnie, having been a lifetime resident, combined with spending her working career in some of Coeur d'Alene's most popular restaurants became a friend and confidant to many of the locals. She was a historical encyclopedia of Coeur d'Alene and its residents. Minnie never had an unkind word to say about anyone. She was loved for her honesty, her energetic outlook and spunk. She maintained her wit and personality through her final year at Ivy Court. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff and residents that came to know and love Minnie there. We would also like to thank Hospice for their loving care of Minnie during her last couple months with us. Minnie also enjoyed reading, gardening, sports on TV, but most of all, Minnie loved her time with her family and friends. Minnie was preceded in death by her sisters, Rose Gotz, Elsie Johnson, Lucy Ferraro, brother George Lenz and beloved nephew Henry Gotz. Minnie is survived by her son, Harold (Tony) Sanderson and companion Kaye Peterson of Nampa, daughter and husband Judy and Norman (Corky) Meyer of Post Falls; granddaughters Elizabeth Boutin of Ramstein, Germany, Nancy Logsdon of Lynwood, Wash.; great-grandchildren Ashley, Alisha, and Dylan Boutin of Germany; nieces Dixie Reid and husband Tom, Gretchen Harrison and husband William, and her beloved sister-in-law, Florence Lenz, Coeur d'Alene. Memorial Mass will be 11 a.m. on Wednesday at St. Pius X Catholic Church with a reception to follow. Yates Funeral Home, Coeur d'Alene Chapel, is in charge of arrangements.
