Smith, 76, Coeur d'Alene, died Oct. 23, 2004, at Kootenai Medical Center in Coeur d'Alene, after a long battle with cancer and heart disease. She was surrounded by her loving family and friends. Charlotte was the daughter of Charles and Gladys Pillsbury, originally from Danville, Vt. Raised in Danville and St. Johnsbury, and a St. Johnsbury Academy graduate, she was employed by Fairbanks Morse and Co. Charlotte then married Raymond D. Smith of St. Johnsbury in September 1946. Their union produced three children -- Sharon, Gregory and Cheryl. In 1953, the family moved to the Northwest. They lived in Montana, where Charlotte worked for 15 years in the accounting department at a local bank, then with Petrolane Gas Company, retiring after 20 years of devoted service. Charlotte was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, one sister and one grandchild. They moved in 1990 to Coeur d'Alene, where she was preceded in death by her husband. Charlotte is survived by three children, Sharon Olson of Deer Park, Wash., Greg Smith, Goodyear, Ariz., and Cheryl Johnson, Greybull, Wyo.; 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; three sisters and one brother, Gladys Spencer, Milford, N.J., Mona Pillsbury, Danville, Vt., Lorraine Wilder, Worcester, Vt. and Richard Pillsbury, Mary Esther, Fla. Charlotte will be deeply missed by family and friends. Memorial service will be 2 p.m. today at Yates Funeral Home, Coeur d'Alene Chapel, 744 N. Fourth Street.
