Coeur d'Alene Press - The Daily Bee Coeur d'Alene, Kootenai County, Idaho <> Daniel Schultze, 60 Daniel Gardiner Schultze, 60, passed away Nov. 2, 2004, after a short battle with pancreatic cancer. Dan was born and raised in California, and graduated from South Gate High School, then Cal State Long Beach with a mechanical engineering degree. After a career with McDonald Douglas, Boeing and Mobil Oil Corp., Dan bought a business in San Luis Obispo, Calif. As president of Eagle Energy Inc., he moved his family back to California in 1993 with the purchase of Henderson Petroleum. Dan loved music, sports and the outdoors. "Coach Dan" thought life was a game to be played fully to the end and always enjoyed. Those who knew him well know he loved people and a good joke. He was a loving husband and father, great friend, devoted Christian, a talented musician, and a true compassionate conservative -- no cracks from the liberal peanut gallery. A member of the Age to Age Band at Mount Carmel Lutheran Church, Dan played there every Sunday for the contemporary worship service, as well as the opening for the Sunday School classes. He worked with youth throughout his life by coaching athletic teams, sponsoring teams, participating in youth group activities, supporting 4H and FFA projects, and being available to the high school and college youth groups at Mount Carmel. Dan is survived by his wife of 35 years, Linda; four children he cherished, Matthew Schultze of San Luis Obispo, Erika Schultze, Atascadero, Calif., Karen Murdock and husband Steve, Atascadero, and Jessica Schultze, who is attending college in Sacramento, Calif.; parents George and Vivian Schultze, Vancouver, Wash; brothers George Schultze, Hayden, Greg Schultze, Simi Valley, Calif., Randy Schultze, West Linn, Ore.; and a multitude of nieces and nephew, including Gary Schultze of Coeur d'Alene, who are full of great memories of their Uncle Danny. As much as we will miss him, we know Dan is with the Lord and Savior. A celebration of Dan's life will be held 2 p.m. Nov. 13 at Mt. Carmel Lutheran Church, 1701 Fredericks Street in San Luis Obispo, Calif. Dan had selected a list of songs for Age to Age to play for his service and has requested that, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a trust fund at Mt. Carmel Lutheran Church, to be used for youth and music programs. ************************************************************************ Copyright.
