Coeur d'Alene Press - The Daily Bee Coeur d'Alene, Idaho <> submitted by: Muddypaw [muddypaw@onemain.com] Augusta Stoddard, 87 Augusta Joan Stoddard, 87, Coeur d'Alene, died Aug. 5, 2004 at Life Care Center of Coeur d'Alene. She was born Oct. 2 1916, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to John and Anna Mary (Kestl) Buscheck. The family moved to the Chicago area where she grew up and attended Catholic school. She worked in the Merchandise Mart in Chicago where she met Joseph E. Stoddard, who was an electrician for the city of Chicago. They were married in 1938 at the Blessed Virgin Mary Church by Augusta's uncle, The Rev. Kestl. The family traveled extensively and made their home in St. Petersburg, Fla. After retirement they traveled all of the United States and loved every moment. Their favorite location was the West where they spent all summer. When wintering in Florida, Augusta was a volunteer in the sheriff's auxiliary and also participated in a clothing outlet for needy people. Along with traveling, Augusta was an avid fisherman and loved fishing in all the states she visited. She was able to handle a fly rod with grace and finesse. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1977 and she moved to Coeur d' Alene in 2002 to be with her son and family. Her final days were spent in a nursing home. She is survived by her son, Ronald J. Stoddard of Coeur d'Alene; grandchildren, Jacqueline, Michael and Brian; and a great-grandchild, Lea. A vigil service will be at 7 p.m. Aug. 9 at the Yates Funeral Home, Coeur d'Alene Chapel. The memorial mass will be at 2 p.m. Aug 10 at St. Pius X Catholic Church. ************************************************************************ Copyright.
