Coeur d'Alene Press - The Daily Bee Coeur d'Alene, Kootenai County, Idaho <> Oral Robertson, 82 Oral "Red" Arthur Robertson, 82, went to his eternal rest Nov. 24, 2004, in Fresno, Calif. He was born May 10, 1922, to William and Claudia (Brown) Robertson in Marlow, Okla., and was raised in Hale Center, Texas. Oral served in the Navy during WWII, after attending basic training and submarine training at Farragut. He served in the Pacific aboard the USS Peto. On Oct. 11, 1945, he married Eileen Boltz of Coeur d'Alene in San Francisco. They lived in Coeur d'Alene where he worked for Kaiser Aluminum and in Seattle where he worked for Bethlehem Steel Co., later moving back to Coeur d'Alene where he owned and operated the Boat Drive-In. His next 38 years were spent in Fremont, Calif., where he again worked for Kaiser Aluminum and Chemical Company from which he retired in 1987. In 2002, Oral and his wife, Eileen, moved to Oakhurst, Calif. Oral was a member of the VFW Post 889, the San Francisco Chapter of Submarine Veterans of WWII, The National Council of Senior Citizens, AARP, The Steelworkers Organization of Active Retirees, and Our Lady of the Sierra Catholic Church in Oakhurst. Survivors include his wife, Eileen of Oakhurst; daughters, Arthene (Penny) Ulrich of Wildomar, Calif. and Clarice Robertson-Garcia of Spokane; son, Tom Robertson of Oakhurst, Calif.; brothers, Ardell of Bowie, Texas, Dencil of Chehalis, Wash. and Avis of Nocona, Texas; sister, Janice Queener of Madison Heights, Mich.; 5 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 1, at Yates Funeral Home, Coeur d'Alene Chapel. Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 2 at St. Thomas Catholic Church with burial to follow at St. Thomas Catholic Cemetery in Coeur d'Alene.
