Coeur d'Alene Press - The Daily Bee Coeur d'Alene, Idaho Herb Nettleton, 96 Herb Nettleton, 96, died July 12, 2004, at Beehive Homes in Coeur d'Alene. He was born May 17, 1908, on the family homestead at Nettleton Gulch in Coeur d'Alene. Herb lived in Coeur d'Alene throughout his life, except for two years in Fernwood, where he managed the Fernwood Mill for Idaho Forest Industries. He worked in the logging industry his entire life and retired from Atlas Tie and Idaho Forest Industries in 1973. Herb married Rose Hamlin in 1934 and they were married 61 years before her death in 1995. He was a member of the Community United Methodist Church and a charter member of the Coeur d'Alene Golf Course, where he worked on the clearing of the land during its inception. Herb was also a member of the Eagles for 61 years and was a life master of the American Contract Bridge League. He enjoyed gardening, fishing and hunting. He is survived by his brother, Edward, of Biloxi, Miss.; daughters and sons-in-law Maxine and Don Schierman, Coeur d'Alene, Kaye and Warren Larson, Spokane; grandchildren and spouses Kris and Larry Gibbon, Coeur d'Alene, Kerry and Tricia Schierman, Kennewick, Wash., Kim and Kevin Baker, Kent, Wash., Lance and Colleen Larson, Spokane; six great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, Rose, Herb was also preceded in death by three sisters and one brother. Memorial service will be 3 p.m. July 17 at English Funeral Chapel, Coeur d' Alene.
