James V. Jim Nickel, 88
James V. "Jim" Nickel, 88, of Kooskia died from pneumonia Nov. 12, 2004, at St. 
Joseph's Regional Hospital in Lewiston. He was born Aug. 16, 1916, in Lewiston 
to Charles W. and Lillian McQueen Nickel. He was the second of six children. 
He attended school in Kamiah, delivered milk from his parent's dairy and had a 
paper route. During the eighth grade, his father became ill and he left school 
to hold down his father's job to support the family. He was packing for Paul 
Bloom Ranch in the Selway and had just brought some dudes into Fenn Ranger 
Station. He just started back up the trail when Charlie McHone came running 
after him.
