Coeur d'Alene Press - The Daily Bee Coeur d'Alene, Idaho <> Alta McMinimy, 92 Alta M. McMinimy, 92, Post Falls, died July 18, 2004, in Coeur d'Alene. Born to Pearl (McKinsey) and Levi Sargent in Lewiston on Sept. 10, 1911, Alta was raised in Attalia, Wash. In 1924, the family moved to Brookings, Ore., where she graduated from high school. Alta then attended "IBM" school in San Francisco. After graduation, she went to work for Kaiser Permanente shipyards in Richmond, Calif. In 1934, Alta met and married Richard P. McMinimy in Spokane. When Kaiser bought the Aluminum Trentwood Rolling Mill, she transferred to Spokane, where she was the first key punch operator in the office at Trentwood. In 1945, she and Richard moved to Post Falls. Alta joined the Carnation Rebekah Lodge 94 in 1950, and in 1967 she was installed as president of the Rebekah Assembly of Idaho. She was also a member of Royal Neighbors of America, Grange, Eagles, VFW and American Legion. Alta was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Post Falls. Her husband, Richard, passed away on Sept. 11, 1984, and son Donald McMinimy on Sept. 2, 1998. Alta is survived by her daughters, Neva Moore and Patricia Edwards of Post Falls; son Richard W. McMinimy, Houston; 14 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. Memorial service will be 1 p.m. July 24 at Community Presbyterian Church, 417 N. William, Post Falls, followed by a reception at the Odd Fellows Lodge in Post Falls.
