Coeur d'Alene Press - The Daily Bee Coeur d'Alene, Idaho <> Essie Joy, 81 Essie H. Joy, 81, Hayden, passed away July 23, 2004, at Ivy Court in Coeur d'Alene. Born to Ethel and George Holmes on Oct. 16, 1922, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Essie graduated from Harper High School in Chicago. On May 10, 1941, she was married in Chicago. She was employed as a bookkeeper all of her life. Essie was Past Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star in La Crescenta, Calif., and a dual member of Queen Esther Chapter #12 in Coeur d'Alene. She was also a member of the White Shrine and volunteered many hours with the Kootenai Medical Center Auxiliary. Essie's passion was crocheting, with which skill she won numerous awards at the Kootenai County Fair. She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Caren and Monty Spencer of Hayden, Peggy and Dave Esterly, Spirit Lake; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Essie was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, one brother and two infant sons. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. July 26 at Yates Funeral Home, Coeur d'Alene Chapel, who is in charge of arrangements. Graveside service will be at 11 a. m. July 27 at Coeur d'Alene Memorial Gardens.
