Priest River Times Priest River, Bonner County, Idaho Dwight Eugene Hansen, 59 Dwight Eugene Hansen, 59, died on Nov. 4, 2004, at his home near Oldtown, Idaho, surrounded by his loving family. He had fought a hard battle with cancer. Dwight was born at Norfolk, Neb., on April 2, 1945, the son of Marguerite (Dye) and Clarence Hansen. He graduated from high school in Coleridge, Neb., in 1963, and immediately began working at GTE until drafted into the U.S. Navy in October 1965. He served two years and was honorably discharged as an FN E-3. Dwight married Kathleen Jessica Carey in Reno, Nev., on Sept. 5, 1970. After his discharge, Dwight returned to work as a technician for GTE, a career that spanned over 30 years in California, Oregon, Washington and Idaho. After retiring at Wenatchee, Wash., in 1996, he moved with his family to Spirit Lake, Idaho. After relocating here, he worked in Coeur d' Alene for First Tel installing phone systems, and later for Center Partners as a phone tech. Dwight enjoyed camping, fishing, playing cribbage, riding motorcycles, and old Chevy cars. Survivors include his wife, Kathy, at their home; one son, Scott Hansen of Bandon, Ore.; four daughters, Coreen, Jennifer, and Christina Hansen, all of Oldtown, and Virginia Wilkerson of Spirit Lake; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and one brother, Clark (and wife, Kathy) Hansen of McKinney, Tex. A memorial service was held at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 9, at the Spirit Valley Christian Fellowship Church in Spirit Lake. Sherman-Knapp Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
