Coeur d'Alene Press - The Daily Bee Coeur d'Alene, Kootenai County, Idaho <> Phyllis (Chris) Hunsaker, 58 Chris Hunsaker, 58, Clarkston, Wash., beloved wife, mother and grandmother, died Wednesday, Nov. 24, 2004, at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Lewiston, after a long struggle with cancer. She was surrounded by her family. Chris was born in Porterville, Calif., Nov. 20, 1946, to Floyd and Vera Phillips of Strathmore, Calif., where she was raised and attended school. After graduating from high school, she married Tom Hunsaker and, together, they started a career in the hearing aid business. In 1975, they moved to Coeur d'Alene and opened the Beltone Hearing Aid Center. They later moved to Lewiston and have since operated Twin City Hearing Aid Center with their sons. Chris enjoyed traveling with her husband and collecting cookie jars wherever she traveled. She was a member of the American Cookie Jar Association, which she enjoyed extensively. Chris is survived by her husband, Tom Hunsaker; sons Gary and Steve Hunsaker; her wonderful grandchildren, Brad and Courtney Hunsaker, Coeur d'Alene, Joe Poe, Clarkston, Rebecca Hunsaker, Clarkston, and Russ McPherson, Spokane; brother Paul Phillips, Coeur d'Alene; sisters Pat Walden, Strathmore, Calif., and Opal Hunt, Phoenix. She also is survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Chris will be greatly missed and forever loved by those who had the pleasure of knowing her. She requested no services.
