Coeur d'Alene Press - The Daily Bee Coeur d'Alene, Kootenai County, Idaho <> Donald Robert Holapa Donald Robert Holapa, 67, passed away Nov. 24, 2004, at Kootenai Medical Center with his family by his side. He was born in 1937 to August and Ida Holapa of Bismarck, N.D. Don was the youngest of 13 children. After attending school in Hazelton, N.D., Don joined the Army and was stationed in Alaska for nearly three years. Don moved in 1960 to Idaho and the Silver Valley area, where he began work for Asarco Mining Company at the Galena Mine. He retired in 1987 after nearly 25 years in the mining industry. Don married Mary "Dot" Holapa and they made their home in Kellogg. They then moved to Kingston in 1970 and lived there for 30 years before moving to Coeur d'Alene in 2000. Don was a longtime member of the V.F.W. Post 1675 in Osburn. He will be remembered as always being ready to visit with friends, old and new. Don is survived by his wife, Dot; daughter Deann Lake and family of the Silver Valley; son Donald Paul Holapa and family, Albion, Wash.; brother Carl Holapa, Virginia; numerous nieces and nephews; and four grandchildren. Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Dec. 4 at Yates Funeral Home, Hayden Chapel. Inurnment will follow at Coeur d'Alene Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
