Priest River Times Priest River, Bonner County, Idaho Curtis D. Hiebert, 46 Curtis D. Hiebert, 46, of Newport, Wash. passed away Nov. 23, 2004 at his home after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Curtis was born Aug. 2, 1958 at Spirit Lake, Idaho the son of Della (Jefffers) and Rudy Hiebert. Curtis grew up in Newport and graduated from Newport High School in 1976. For 29 years he worked for the Pend Oreille County Auditors Office starting in Aug. of 1977, last working as the Data Processing Coordinator with Chief Deputy Auditor appointment. Curtis was a long time member of the Newport Rodeo Association serving as the treasurer from Nov. 1988 to Nov. 2003. He was a member of the Newport Eagles and in his spare time he enjoyed gardening, camping, road trips with family and friends and most of all spending time with his two dogs Lucy and Willy. Survivors include his caregiver Doug Jackson; mother Della Kleidosty of Newport; father Rudy Hiebert of Oldtown; three brothers, Ken (& Kim) Hiebert of Iowa, Dennis Hiebert of Oldtown and Steve (& Kasey) Hiebert of Colbert, Wash.; two sisters, Diana (& Marty) Balam of Deer Park and Becky (& Randy) Bosch of Blanchard. Also surviving are 14 nieces and nephews and his two dogs, Willy and Lucy. Memorial contributions in Curtis' name can be made to the Pend Oreille County Cancer Society at 132 Sunrise Hill, Newport, WA. 99156. A memorial service is scheduled for 2 p.m. on Dec. 3 at the Assembly of God Church in Newport. A time of fellowship will follow at the Newport Eagles.
