Priest River Times Priest River, Bonner County, Idaho Larry Garwood, 63 Larry Garwood, 63, of Newport, Wash., died Saturday, Nov. 13, 2004, at his home, after losing a courageous battle against leukemia. His loving wife, June, was by his side. Larry was born in Cheney, Wash., and spent his youth in the Malden/Rosalia area. He was a barber for many years in the Rosalia and Newport areas. In 1987, he began working for the Diamond Lake Water and Sewer District, a job he truly loved. Because of his illness, he reluctantly retired after 14 years of service. He also owned the Royal Flush septic service. Larry was a member of the Malden Masonic Lodge No. 811, serving as master in 1969-1970. He was also a member of the Diamond Lake Fire District 3, serving as fire chief from 1988-1994. He loved fishing, his garden, and winning at the casinos. He is survived by his wife of 34 years, June; one son, Harold and Della Garwood; two daughters, Sylvia Wilkenson and Donna Lindhag; two stepdaughters, Sharlene and Jack Brownson, and Sharon and Jim Weber; a brother, Bud and Charlene Garwood; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and cousins. At his request, a potluck gathering of family and friends will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 18, at the Newport Eagles Lodge, 236 S. Union Ave. Please come help celebrate Larry's life with stories and special memories. Memorials in Larry's name may be made to St. Jude's Hospital or the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
