Priest River Times Priest River, Idaho Muddypaw [muddypaw@onemain.com] Alvin C. Fields, 85 Alvin C. Fields, 85 passed away on July 27, 2004, at the Newport Long Term Care. He was born in Newport, Wash., on Feb. 15, 1919, to John Robert and Mabel Dora (McIntosh) Fields. After attending schools in Newport, he served in the U.S. Army during WWII. In 1949, he married Lorraine Sapp in Bellingham. To this union three daughters were born. In 1994, Lorraine preceded him in death. Al worked as a log loader for ITT Rayonier, near Lake Quinault. He loved the outdoors, fishing, working crosswords, and playing the accordion. In Feb. of 2003, he married Ann (Cooper) Chaney in Newport, who survives him at their home. He is also survived by two daughters, Margaret Rasor of Tacoma, Wash. and Candy Barker of Rathdrum, Idaho, six grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Besides his first wife, he was preceded by a daughter, Nancy Fields in 1954, his parents, and a brother, Glenn. A graveside inurnment service will be held at 10 a.m. on Aug. 7 at the Newport Cemetery.
