Coeur d'Alene Press - The Daily Bee Coeur d'Alene, Idaho <> Ethel Ellis, 87 Ethel Mary Ann Ellis, 87, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 28, 2004. Ethel was born Dec. 17, 1916, in Jamestown, N.D., to Roy and Elsie Umstead. The family moved to Roy, Mont., in 1919. Ethel graduated from high school in 1934, and she then married LeRoy Ellis in 1937. LeRoy and Ethel settled in North Idaho in 1938. Ethel was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, and LeRoy, her husband of 65 years. She is survived by her children, Barbara and Lyle Eliasen of American Falls, Joan and Richard Lewis, Spokane, John and Janet Ellis, Athol. She also leaves behind sister Eleanor and Gene Yde of Friendswood, Texas. Surviving grandchildren are David and Hans Eliasen and their sisters, Mary Ann Alleman and Bethany Ruhter, Steven, Scott, Greg and Nathan Lewis and their sister, Kim Leighty, Marie Harsh and sisters Judi Hardison and Peggy Griffin. Ethel also has 21 great-grandchildren. Ethel taught 4-H for many years and was active in the B.A.B. women's group. She enjoyed flower gardening and knitting and was a member of Christian Fellowship Chapel in Athol. Service will be 11 a.m. today at English Funeral Chapel, Coeur d'Alene. Internment will be at Coeur d'Alene Memorial Garden.
