Edith Downing, 67

Edith Mae Lance Downing, 67, known as "Edie" or "Granny Washington," was born 
Sept. 6, 1937, to Ora (Harding) and Herman Lance in Eden. She passed away Nov. 
30, 2004, in Post Falls.

Edie was raised in the Magic Valley and graduated from Valley High School in 
1955. She married Earl Harvy Downing on April 3, 1959, in Pocatello. They came 
to the Spokane area in 1965.

Edie is survived by her son, Brad, wife Teddi Downing and their children 
Michael, Jessica and Kurtis; son Lance Downing; son Cory Downing; son Kelly, 
wife Kathy Downing and their children Daniel, Stephen, Kenten and Kyle; 
daughter Ann, husband Grady Ford and their children Brad, Michael and Josh; 
seven great-grandchildren; sisters Pat Brown and Janie Rue Kem; and special 
companion Phil Knapp.

Edie was preceded in death by her husband, Earl, in 1989.

Memorial service will be 1 p.m. Dec. 4 at English Funeral Chapel, Post Falls, 
which is in charge of arrangements.
