Davis, 88, longtime resident of Rathdrum, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 5, 2004, at Manorcare Health Services in Spokane, after contracting pneumonia. Born Nov. 26, 1915, in Kellogg, he was raised in Garfield, Wash., and graduated from Garfield High School in 1934. Jack married his high school sweetheart and classmate, Mary Agnes Donery, that same year. They had two children, Joan A. Tyus of Spokane and Jack. R. Davis of Whidbey Island, Wash. Jack operated several small businesses in Garfield, Cheney, and Pullman, Wash. He and Mary divorced in 1946. In 1948, he married Norma Estes Schmidt. They lived in Garfield, before moving to Walla Walla, Wash. He sold insurance before becoming a farmer in Prescott, Wash. Jack and Norma had two children, Carol Anderson of South Beach, Ore., and Greg Davis, deceased. Retiring from farming in 1970, Jack and Norma moved to Rockford Bay on Lake Coeur d'Alene. They divorced in 1972. After moving to Coeur d'Alene, Jack met and married Marion Branvold McCollum and moved to Rathdrum. They were proud owners of the historic 1883 Hart House from 1975, until death took them this year. Jack and Marion were well known in Rathdrum. Jack worked with the City Council Planning Department and Marion was well known for her knitted works that they presented at Christmas each year to various people and organizations. Jack was proud to be a member of the Jaycees in his earlier years. He was a lifetime member of the Elks and one of the founding directors of Preferred Life Insurance Company of Seattle. Jack is survived by three children, two stepchildren, 23 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren. Viewing hours will be 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. October 9 at English Funeral Chapel, 1133 N. Fourth St. Coeur d'Alene. Graveside service at 1 p.m. will follow at Forest Cemetery, Government Way, Coeur d'Alene.
