Priest River Times Priest River, Bonner County, Idaho Gregory Michael Cavanaugh, 56 Gregory Michael Cavanaugh, 56, of Oldtown, Idaho, died Saturday, Nov. 13, 2004, in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. Greg was born May 18, 1948, in Spokane, Wash. His friends are welcome to gather at the Eagles in Newport from 12 noon to 2 p.m., Nov. 21, to celebrate his life. Greg worked as a draftsman and surveyor for Sewell & Associates of Newport, Wash. He lived with grit and gusto among the tamarack and fir trees of his home. He was a talented woodworker who carved many signs for friends and businesses. In his hands, a table saw found the hidden shapes of moose and jaybird in chunks of wood. At home or in a mountain camp, he built "the best campfire ever." Among the dancing flames he enjoyed the warmth of friendship with his many friends. He was a door without a lock. Survivors are his mother, Evelyn A. Cavanaugh; two sisters, Patricia Deschamps and Rita Carpenter; two brothers, Marc Cavanaugh and Doug Cavanaugh; 10 nieces and nephews. "We remember Greg with great love." Memorials in Greg's name can be made to Community Cancer Services, P.O. Box 2213, Sandpoint, ID 83864. Sherman-Knapp Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
