Coeur d'Alene Press - The Daily Bee Coeur d'Alene, Idaho <> Submitted by: Kristy Taylor [muddypaw@onemain.com] Julia A. Brown, 83 Julia A. Brown, 83, Coeur d'Alene, died Aug. 25, 2004, at her home. She was born Feb. 17, 1921, in Caton, N.Y., to Lloyd B. Hall Sr. and Anna Clark Hall. Julia was raised in upstate New York and worked at the Corning Glass Works until enlisting in 1944 in the Army Air Forces (later known as the Air Force). She served as a medical corpsman and met and married James H. Brown of Payette, while stationed in 1945 at Geiger Air Force Base in Spokane. After discharge from the service, the couple moved to Corning, N.Y., where Julia eventually owned and operated a beauty salon for many years. After moving to Idaho in 1958, Julia became certified as a nurse's aide and worked in that profession locally for many years. When they started Jim's Crane Service in Coeur d'Alene, Julia retired as a nurse's aide to assist him in operating the business. Julia enjoyed caring for her grandchildren and other children. She also enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing, picking huckleberries and searching for antique glassware. Survivors include her children, Jim and Jo Ann Alger of Navarre, Fla., Connie Alger, Corning, N.Y., Louise Krause, Coeur d'Alene, Julie and Jim Titus, St. Maries; brother and sister-in-law, Levi and Lovelene Hall, Sana Losa Beach, Fla. ; sister Ruth Tompkins, Corning, N.Y.; sister-in-law Ruby Hall, Beaver Dams, N. Y.; and numerous brothers and sisters-in-law of her husband's family. Julia has 28 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death was her husband, Jim, daughter JoAnn DuBois of Canesteo, N.Y., brothers Calvin Hall, Cameron, N.Y., and Lloyd Hall Jr., Beaver Dams, N.Y. Services will be 11 a.m. August 30 at Yates Funeral Home, Hayden Chapel, with viewing starting at 9 a.m. Reception will be at Yates Hayden Gathering Center following the graveside service at Coeur d'Alene Memorial Gardens in Coeur d' Alene.
