Coeur d'Alene Press - The Daily Bee Coeur d'Alene, Kootenai County, Idaho <> Bella Elizabeth Byers, 83 Bella Elizabeth Byers, 83, was born on June 29, 1921, in Genesee, to Henry and Elizabeth Byers. She attended school at Elk River. Bella married George Altmaier July 29, 1939, in Moscow. They moved to Priest River in 1948, then in 1959, they moved to Coeur d'Alene, where Bella was employed at Pinewood Manor. She loved her family and was delighted when they came to visit her, especially the grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who made her smile. Bella liked doing crafts and knitting afghans. She also enjoyed watching Seattle Mariners games. Bella was very thankful for the great care and love at Long Term Care. She passed away Oct. 31, 2004, at Newport Community Hospital in Newport, Wash. Bella is survived by her sons, Gary and wife Joy of Priest River, and Greg in Spokane; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; brother Otis Byers and wife Gwen, Spokane; and several nieces and nephews. Bella was very grateful for the love and caring her niece, Connie Wear, gave her. Connie visited a lot and did her hair every week. Bella was preceded in death by her husband, George, in 1979, grandson Hap Altmaier in 1998, brothers Tommy, Mike "Buddy," Jess, and sisters Mary and Adeline. There will be a graveside service at 1 p.m. Nov. 6 at Evergreen Cemetery in Priest River. ************************************************************************ Copyright.
