Bloxom, 70, lost his battle with cancer Friday, Sept. 24, 2004, surrounded by his family at home in Sandpoint. He was born August 20, 1934, in Fullerton, Neb., son of Clair and Dorothy M. ( Stoble) Bloxom. The Bloxom family moved to Sandpoint in 1936. Bill attended schools in Sandpoint, graduating in 1953. He was an outstanding high school athlete and played semi-pro baseball in Sandpoint in 1955 and 1956. Bill married Dorothy Elaine Barber in Prosser, Wash., on October 16, 1954. He worked various jobs in the Sandpoint area including logging. After working for the railroad for 30 years, Bill retired as a conductor/brakeman from the Union Pacific in 1996. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking and most sports. Of course, he was a huge Mariners and Seahawks fan. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Dorothy, at the home in Sandpoint; daughters, Debby Neely and husband Randy, Donna Berger and husband Mike, and Julie Nye and husband Kevin, all of Sandpoint; sons, Gary Bloxom of Portland, Ore., and Joe Bloxom of Sandpoint; a sister, Pat Rogers and husband Jack of Sandpoint; brothers, Jack Bloxom and wife Zella, and Tom Bloxom and wife Linda, all of Coeur d'Alene; four grandchildren and two great-grandchldren. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Bob, Joe and Loren ( infant). A memorial gathering to celebrate his life will be 2 p.m. Sept. 30, 2004, at the Elks Lodge in Sandpoint.
