WHITMIRE, CAROL LANFORD

   Seneca---Mrs. Carol Lanford Whitmire, 82, of Route 1, widow of Henry Ray 
Whitmire, died Wednesday at Lila Doyle Annex.  Born in Oconee County, she was 
the daughter of the late Elliott Henry and Alice Wilson Lanford.  She was a 
member of New Hope Baptist Church.  Surviving are a brother, Harold G. Lanford 
of Walhalla; sisters, Mrs. W. W. (Bruce) Cole of Greenville, Mrs. J. B. (Ethel) 
Tumblin of Gray Court, Mrs. J. T. (Alice) Ferguson of Six Mile, and Mrs. A. C. 
Paunee Phillips, Jr. of Walhalla.  Services were at 11 a. m. Friday at New Hope 
Baptist Church conducted by the Revs. Roy Burgner and Clyde Crenshaw.  Burial 
was in Hillcrest Memorial Park, Pickens. Memorials may be made to the New Hope 
Baptist Church.
