WHITE, CATHERINE SCHUMACHER Keowee Courier, July 8, 1953 Mrs. Katie White Passes Friday Funeral services for Mrs. Katie Irene Schumacher White, 57, who died suddenly late Friday afternoon of a heart attack at her home on North Chestnut Street, were held from St. John's Lutheran church Saturday. The Rev. Ben M. Clark, her pastor, conducted the rites. Burial was in the church cemetery. The following members of the council served as pallbearers: E. B. Stoudemire, T. V. Derrick, H. D. Biemann, Snead Schumacher, Henry Klaren, and Henry C. Brandt. Mrs. White was born and reared in Oconee county, a daughter of the late O. H. and Sophie Rieppe Schumacher, both pioneer residents of Walhalla. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran church and for the past 20 years taught music in her home. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. S. P. Patterson of Wake Forest, N. C., and Mrs. J. R. Holcombe of Walhalla; four sons, George H. of Greenville, James E., Otto H. and Fred H. White, all of Walhalla; one brother, John Schumacher; one sister, Mrs. Bertha Shelor of Greenville; one half-brother, Hampton Meiburg of Walhalla and four grandchildren. ************************************************************************ Copyright.
