Obituary of TALLEY, ROBERT CLYDE 1992 Oconee, SC Keowee Courier, May 13, 1992 Salem---Robert Clyde Talley, 80, husband of Jessie McCoy Talley, of Main Street, Salem, died Monday, May 4, 1992 at Oconee Memorial Hospital. Born in Salem, he was the son of the late Lewis and Manervia Albertson Talley. He was the first Mayor of Salem and was a member of the Board of Directors of Blue Ridge Bank of Walhalla. He was a former member of the Oconee County Planning Board and a former trustee of Oconee Memorial Hospital and Salem schools. Mr. Talley was a member of Salem Baptist Church, a charter member of the Salem Lions Club and the Salem-Whitewater Club, and a member of the Blue Ridge Masonic Lodge No. 92 and the Lewis E. Blanchett Post of the American Legion. He served in the U. S. Navy during World War II. Surviving in addition to his wife, of the home, are four daughters, Joyce Owen Hampton of Brevard, N. C., Janice Parkinson of Albuquerque, N. M., Rose Mary Littleton of Salem and Gayle Lusk of Salem; a sister, Mrs. Alma Lusk of Salem; a brother, Glenn Talley of Niantic, Conn.; and eight grandchildren, Robert Orr, Denny Hampton, Liberty Parkison, Glen Parkison, Jeremy Littleton, Timmy Littleton, Jessica Lusk and Earle Lusk. Services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Salem Baptist Church with Rev. Donald Vaughn officiating. Burial was in Oconee Memorial Park with Masonic rites. Memorials may be made to the Salem Baptist Church, 3 Crestwood Drive, Salem, SC 29676.
