Obituary of SCHUMACHER, ROBERT CRISP 1967 Oconee, SC Keowee Courier September 20, 1967 AREA MOURNS PASSING OF SCHUMACHER Robert C. Schumacher, 43, widely-known Walhalla resident who was a member of the South Carolina House of Representatives in 1949 and 1950 and executive aide to Congressman Bryan Dorn from 1951 to 1959, died Thursday morning at his home of after a sudden illness. He was a native of Oconee county and a son of Mrs. Fannie Schumacher and the late Otto H. Schumacher. He was a rural mail carrier and a member of the Rural Letter Carriers Association. He was also a member of the Walhalla Masonic Lodge, the Lewis E. Blanchett Post of the American Legion, and a veteran of World War II. In addition, Mr. Schumacher was a member of the Advisory Board of the Oconee County School Board to the Oconee County School District and a member of St. John's Lutheran Church. He served as a Sunday School teacher and was president of the St. John's Church Brotherhood. He was a member of the planning committee for the Walhalla Centennial Celebration in 1950 and played a major role in producing the accompanying pageant. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Mrs. Eloise Dillard Schumacher; a daughter, Miss Ann Schumacher of the home; a sister, Mrs. J. P. (Frances) Booker of Walhalla; and two brothers, Henry Schumacher of Walhalla and Paul Schumacher of Thomaston, Ga. Funeral services were conducted Saturday morning at the St. John's Lutheran Church with the Rev. John H. Koch, Jr. and Dr. Ben M. Clark officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery. Pall-bearers were Dr. Parks Booker, Edward Booker, Robert Booker, Bill Dillard, Hal Schumacher, Paul Schumacher and Laymond(sic) Hattaway.
