Obituary of SMITH, JOHN FLOYD 1992 Oconee, SC Keowee Courier, May 13, 1992 Salem--John Floyd Smith, 81, of 230 Marie Lane, Salem, died Friday, May 8, 1992 at Oconee Memorial Hospital. Born in Salem, he was a retired farm manager for the Tamassee DAR School and a member of the Zion United Methodist Church. He was twice married, first to the late Lexie Edney Smith. He was the husband of Marie Sloan Campbell Smith, and a son of the late Barker Lee and Mary Talley Smith. Surviving in addition to his widow are sons, Gary Smith of Toccoa, Ga., Douglas Smith of Walhalla and Johnny Smith of Seneca; a daughter, Karen Rochester of Walhalla; a stepson, J. Harold Campbell of Salem; a brother, Jim Smith of Pickens; sisters, Mildred Dyar of Marietta and Frances Smith-Hopkins of Virginia Beach, Va.; 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Services were at 5 p. m. Monday at Davenport Funeral Home, conducted by the Revs. Donald Vaughn and Dr. James A. Kirkpatrick. Burial was in the Flat Shoals Baptist Church cemetery.
