Obituary of STANCIL, AUGUSTA SHUFORD 1951 Oconee, SC Keowee Courier, July 5, 1951 Stancil Funeral Held Tuesday Funeral services were conducted Tuesday from the Corinth Baptist Church for A. S. (Gus) Stancil, 63, who succumbed Monday at Oconee Memorial hospital after a brief illness. The Rev. Ralph Sassard and the Rev. Ferriss Moore officiated at the rites and burial followed in the church cemetery. Nephews served as pall-bearers and an escort of honor was composed of Harb Williams, Lewis Gaillard, John Frashier, Sam Allen, Jay Albertson, Luther Carter, S. O. Hamilton, Bud Bagwell, Johnny Bibb, and John Field. Flower bearers were Mildred Foster, Mongolia Goodwin, Fay Williams, Ruth Pierce, Fay Taylor, Jean Taylor, and Lilly Smith. A native of Oconee county, Mr. Stancil spent most of his life in the Seneca area. He was a member of Corinth Baptist church. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Myrtle Freeman Stancil; six daughters, Miss Marie Stancil of the home, Mrs. Nancy Goss and Mrs. Ethel Smith of Seneca, Mrs. Ida Canutt of Westminster, Mrs. Willie Harvey of Greenville, and Mrs. Ellie Profitt of Charleston; three sons, Jim Stancil of the home, Roy and Elijah Stancil of Seneca; two brothers, G. S. and J. B. Stancil of Seneca; two half-brothers, Wallace and Beaman Stancil of Seneca; seven sisters, Mrs. Linnie Jones, Mrs. Ruby Sanders, and Mrs. Pearl Heaton of Greenville, Mrs. Beulah Thomas, Mrs. Edith Moore, and Mrs. Irene Moore of Seneca, and Mrs. Maude Cheek of Simpsonville; two half-sisters, Mrs. Maggie Nalley of Spartanburg and Miss Zoie Stancil of Seneca. ************************************************************************ Copyright.
