Obituary of ROACH, CARRIE PHILLIPS 1961 Oconee, SC Keowee Courier, April 12, 1961 Mrs. Roach, 84, Taken By Death Mrs. Carrie Phillips Roach, 84, widow of K. I. Roach and a resident of Rt. 1, Walhalla, died at her home on the Seneca highway Friday following an illness of five months. She was a daughter of the late Mart and Mattie Harden Phillips and a lifelong resident of Oconee county. Her husband died several years ago. She was a member of Double Springs Baptist church. Surviving are two sons, C. T. (Red) Roach, of Walhalla, and Ansel (Slim) Roach, of Greenville; one daughter, Mrs. Inez Keown of West Union; four brothers, Zeke Phillips of California, Charlie Phillips of Spokane, Wash., Clem Phillips, of Colorado and Clint Phillips, of Montana; three sisters, Mrs. Addie Ross, of Colorado, Mrs. Lillie Thrift, of Long Creek, and Mrs. Lucy Hamby, of Mountain Rest; 12 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Funeral services were held Sunday from the Double Springs Baptist church, conducted by the Rev. Dave Wilson and the Rev. Frank Rochester. Burial was in the church cemetery. Pallbearers: Grady Albertson, Jay Albertson, Robert Albertson, Harold Thomas, Zetna Lee, George Patton.
