Obituary of REID, ARCH T. 1944 Oconee, SC Keowee Courier October 26, 1944 Funeral Rites Held for Arch T. Reid Funeral services for Arch T. Reid, 77, who died last Tuesday were held at his home Thursday afternoon at 3 o'clock, conducted by the Rev. R. S. Cooper, pastor of the First Baptist church, and the Rev. Ben M. Clark, pastor of St. John's Lutheran church. Burial followed in the West View cemetery. Mr. Reid had been in poor health for several months and suffered a stroke a week before his death. Mr. Reid was well known throughout the county, having served for many years as a law enforcement officer. He served as a state constable and as city policeman in Westminster for 18 months. For the past several years he has served as court bailiff. Born in Salem September 30, 1867, Mr. Reid, with his family moved to Walhalla in 1901. Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. H. T. Crenshaw, Mrs. R. P. Farmer, and Mrs. Fannie R. Sanders, all of Walhalla, and Mrs. Paul Erwin of Gainesville, Ga.; 17 grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild, and a large number of nieces and nephews.
