Mason Rites Conducted
   Waymon W. Mason, 89, of the Oakway Community, died Sunday at his home, 
following an extended illness.  He was a lifelong resident of Oconee County, a 
son of the late J. Wesley and Martha Leathers Mason. He owned and operated a 
grocery store for many years. He was a, member of the Bethel Baptist Church.  
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Blanche Bruce Mason, of the home; one son, Otis 
Mason. Westminster; one daughter, Miss Vanola Mason, Columbia ; two brothers, 
Wilton Mason, Chapel Hill, N.C., Marshall Mason, Greenwood; three sisters, Mrs 
Lille Brown, Mrs. Lelia Hayes, Mrs. Ida Powell, all of Greenville.  Funeral 
services were conducted Tuesday at Bethel Baptist Church with the Revs. Donald 
Chastain and M. J. Stansell officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.  
Pallbearers were Furman Cole, Fant Honea, James H. Myers, Claude Shurt, Ray 
Gambrell, J.C. Gambrell.  Honorary escort included Men's Bible Class of the 
Bethel Baptist Church and Dr. Harry Mays.
