Obituary of MORGAN, LOUIE L. 1956 Oconee, SC Keowee Courier, March 14, 1956 Louie L. Morgan Dies At Utica Louie L. Morgan, 78, of the Utica community, died at Oconee Memorial hospital March 5. He had been ill for the past four weeks, critically three days. Mr. Morgan, a retired textile worker, was a native and lifelong resident of Oconee County, since 1917 had lived in the Utica-Mohawk community where he was employed prior to his retirement one year ago. He was a son of the late William Mattison and Elizabeth Hunnicutt Morgan, pioneer settlers of Oconee county. Mr. Morgan was a member of the Hampton Street Church of God in Westminster. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Etta G. Morgan of the home; four sons, the Rev. W. M. Morgan, George L. Morgan and J. Ross Morgan, all of Seneca, and J. Frank Morgan, Westminster; three daughters, Mrs. A. D. Stringer, Mrs. James Davis and Miss Jeanette Morgan, also of Seneca, and Mrs. Glenn Smith of Easley; a sister, Mrs. Nora Watson of Seneca; 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held from East Main Street Church of God in Seneca Wednesday with the Rev. C. W. Barnes and the Rev. G. F. Dempsey officiating. Burial followed in Mt. View Cemetery. Pallbearers: J. H. Cobb, Jimmy Weathers, Carl Edgar, Will Young, Will Blackwell and the Rev. Vester Stevens. Honorary escort: Guy Mauldin, H. H. Jamerson, Boyd Queen, Pilgrim Owens, James Pettit, James Allen, Ed J. Marcengill, John Smith, Jack Fitzgerald, and Jack Lindsey.
