Obituary of MORGAN, JAMES A. 1944 Oconee, SC Keowee Courier, January 1944 Funeral Rites Held For J. A. Morgan, 71 J. A. (Jim) Morgan, 71, native and prominent farmer of the Old Pickens section of Oconee county, died early last Tuesday morning at the Oconee County Hospital where he had been a patient for the past several days after being stricken with influenza. Death resulted from other complications which set in following the attack. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at 3 o'clock from the Wolf Stake Baptist Church with the Rev. Ralph Taylor, assisted by the Rev. Valdee Elliott and the Rev. H. E. Davis, officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery. Mr. Morgan is survived by five sons, Luther Morgan, Oconee County's Clerk of Court, Dewitt, Vando, Elza Lee and Claude Morgan; two daughters, Mrs J. E. Kelley and Miss Sara Morgan; one sister, Mrs. M. C. Elkin; 24 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Active pallbearers were R. F. Nalley, H. C. Wyatt, C. K. White, H. R. Boggs. E. T. Dyar and R. B. Clarke. The honary escort was composed of F. S. Whitmire. W. H. M. Whitmire, J. F. Hopkins R. L. Nimmons, Oscar Kelley, T. M. Elrod, T. R. Keith and Jim Evatt.
