Obituary of MEIBURG, HAMPTON CORDE 1959 Oconee, SC Keowee Courier January 7, 1959 Meiburg Rites Are Held Here Hampton Corde Meiburg, 81, prominent retired merchant, died suddenly Friday at his home here after several years declining health. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran church and a member of one of Walhalla's pioneer families. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Emma Brandt Meiburg; one son, Corde Meiburg of Charleston; one daughter, Mrs. W. R. Lewis of Albany, Ga.; four grandchildren; one half-brother, John Schumacher; and one half-sister, Mrs. Bertha Shelor of Clemson; also a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at St. John's Lutheran church Sunday conducted by his pastor, the Rev. Keith Beam, and the Rev. Ben Clark. Burial was in the church cemetery. Pallbearers: John Z. Brandt, George Hunter, Conrad Biemann, John J. Brandt, Nelson Burnside, and Snead Schumacher.
